WELCOME TO S.P.I.N. !
"Saving Sugar Gliders Through Education & Rescue"
e founders of S.P.I.N., along with as many volunteers as they can gather together, are attempting to combat the serious problem of MILL BREEDING.
Mill breeders sell gliders that are or can be:
1. sick (giardia, mites, fungal infections, and coxydia to name a few things)
2. disabled (by injury or birth defect)
3. genetically unsound (predisposed to things like HLP or blindness)
4. too young to be taken from their parents (less than 8 weeks OOP)
5. dehydrated
6. underweight
7. gliders that are much older than the age they are advertising them to be
8. or have been kept in delporable and inexcusable condtions and are then sold based on impulse purchasing with no research encouraged
Our way of fighting this growing and deeply concerning problem is by EDUCATING and INFORMING the communities predominantly affected by mill breeders. We take the time to go to fairs, trade shows, festivals, expos… anywhere glider owners, future glider owners, or mill breeders ARE, HAVE BEEN, or MIGHT BE GOING. We wear matching t-shirts, hand out informational flyers, and occasionally give out free promotional products as well. Sometimes, we appear in conjunction with a reputable breeder or with someone who makes or sells glider products who is local to the area where the venue is located. We point owners or people considering ownership of sugar gliders in the direction of safe, sound glider information. We let them know the REAL DEAL about sugar gliders… what they are, where they come from,
and how to feed and care for them PROPERLY.
The idea is to DISPEL THE MYTHS SOLD BY THE MILL BREEDERS and to DEBUNK THE HYPE about outdated information.
We want to help the general public understand the TRUTH…
not the garbage that mill breeders and others (no matter how well-meaning they may be) often tell potential owners just to make a sale.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING THE CRUSADE, YOU CAN copy/paste and print our fliers for use OR you can CONTACT US and request the fliers be emailed to you
